Annandale Christian College

Annandale Christian College is located close to Lavarack Barracks, Townsville University Hospital and James Cook University, and is an Independent, Kindergarten to Year 12, Christian College with approximately 700 students. The College is proud to have been closely associated with Townsville’s Defence families over the course of its 44-year history.

Annandale Christian College has a reputation in the local community as a leading Primary and Secondary school for quality Christ-centred education with high academic achievement and intentional service to others in the wider community. We embrace a biblical worldview and traditional values, while at the same time, providing a distinctively high teaching standard of the Australian Curriculum and the QCAA Senior Syllabus. The vision of the College pioneers was to provide parents with an opportunity to be in a deliberate partnership with their children’s school to enable them to excel academically, emotionally, socially, physically and spiritually. That vision, embedded in an effective partnership between home and school continues today, over 40 years later. Consequently, the College actively seeks to develop every child’s God-given identity in a rapidly changing world.

Along with our staff, who work closely with students to help them integrate into our College community, we are also blessed to have a Student Wellbeing Team on staff to assist all students as they engage with the rigours of their educational journey and their important formative years.

An extensive camps program is provided to our College students (Years 5 -12). The Senior Primary students’ tour of the nation’s capital being a significant milestone in the lives of these students. Our swimming program for Primary students (Years 1 – 6), is included in the College tuition fees and is a key skill for development in North Queensland.

Voluntary programs such as the Duke of Edinburgh International Award (Years 9 – 12) enhance positive personal development for young people and reflect the values of College life as we grow confident, caring leaders willing to serve others before themselves.

Our students also participate in service to others through outreach programs and fundraising locally and worldwide in partnership with YWAM (Youth With a Mission), Compassion and TEAR Australia.  Students can choose a number of learning pathways at our College including Vocational Training, University and employment opportunities. Students who choose to also study Aquatic Practices are able to achieve licences for SCUBA diving as well as their boat licence.

We encourage students to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Maths) in our purpose-built complex, and to share their artistic skills in our extensive Music and Arts initiatives. The school offers extra curriculum programs in Instrumental Music, Speech and Drama, Chess and Coding. Students also have the option of participating in a musical every 2 years.
